On the first week of April 1950, Owen McDougall of the Majestic Ballroom and Frankie Gould of the Crystal Ballroom had requested that the city penal code be amended to permit selling beer in their ballrooms. They said sale of beer was needed to help meet operation costs. However, members of the council’s ordinance committee turned made their beer go flat by turning down their request.

Beer is not involved in the slaughter policy.
